Gasoline in Oil

Recent oil analysis on my 1985 F150, 5.0L with 119,000 miles indicates that I have 3.8% gasoline in the sample submitted. Where would it be coming from ? Only thing I come up with is the fuel pump..and other source ? Thanks, Will Lewis

Re: Gasoline in Oil

Worn rings can allow fuel into the crankcase. Does the truck run OK? rich/lean? Does it smoke?

Re: Gasoline in Oil

The truck does not appear to smoke and the oil consumption is about one qt. in 3000 miles.

Re: Gasoline in Oil

Two questions:
1. Is the vehicle hard to start? If so, raw fuel would be pumped into the cylinders and might flow by the (worn) rings.

2. Do you rev the engine up just prior to shutdown? Same story.
