Has anyone had their speedo recalibrated for larger tires? If so, was the procedure the same as for diesels? Have appt. at 2pm to have this done, but dealer needs procedure from me because they've not done a gas engine... I know the revs for the tire, just need to know if there is any procedural difference. Thanks for any help.

I had King's Ford recalibrate mine. They just hooked it into the scanner tool and loaded in the revs per mile. This set my speedo and fixed the problems I was having with shift points when I went from 235's to 285's. I didn't realize that it would make that big of a difference, but the truck runs much better than before. BTW, what size and brand of tire are you going to?
Hey Keith!
Taking it to Beechmont today (3 min. from work). I put on 285/75/16 D Bridgestone Dueller ATs in December. Started towing a cargo trailer and it really emphasized that the shift points were off.
I think we'll have a great time at the rally. Next meeting is March 3rd. Watch the events forum.

I had mine set at 614 revs/mile. I just calculated it. I guess some of the manufacturers have a chart. Maybe not all 285's are exactly the same. I saw were some guys were using 636 revs per mile, but that seems to match for a 305/65. Let me know how you like the duellers, how bad they sing and how hard they are on the wallet. My Mastercrafts wont make it past 40K I'm sure, so I'll be looking by this time next year.
Just got back from Beechmont. Took the tech 2 minutes out in the parking lot. I went with manufacturers rpm of 633 to start. The tech told me to check it this weekend for accuracy, if it's off he'll recal at no charge. $35 and 15 minutes total time. Can already tell a difference on the shift points.
I really like the Bridgestones so far. A little bit of hum compared to the all-seasons, but not near as much as a mudder. Nice 50k mile warranty and great traction compared to the old Firestones. You can take it for a spin next time we get together.

I wish there was someone in Wash DC metro area that could do the recal. but most Dealers that I have tried are completely clueless, even one said that the computer had a learning chip installed and that it would adjust itself....ummmm....I know now where NOT to go.

Not yet Scott, Still looking though...I tried Ted Britt Ford in Fairfax, Battlefield Ford in Manassas, Coles Ford in Woodbridge, I must be speaking to the wrong people at these Dealerships cause these guys say they can't do a re-program on my truck. If I hear of one I'll shoot you a note, and by the way howdy neighbor, I live in Manassas...have a good one
