Gibson or Borla Cat-Back??

Looking to upgrade my exhaust and have it narrowed down to Borla or Gibson. I am only interested in a single side exit cat back system as I don't want to sacrafice any low end power. Any opinions or advice on which is "better". I am not even sure that they offer the single side for a super cab short box as I am still researching and waiting for info?

Thanks in advance for any replys, Jake

Re: Gibson or Borla Cat-Back??

I have the Borla 3" single cat-back on my truck. Been there for 2 years and 53k miles. I haven't had any problems with it. It is quiet, just a tad louder than stock. Kinda like a roar. Borla has a quality product in my opinion. Don't expect any drastic changes in power or mpg. I'm guessing 10 hp and maybe 1/4-1/2 mpg. I believe that any of the cat-back kits will fit any cab/bed combo. Ford lengthens the tubing from the cat to muffler. From there on it's the same. Cut the stock tubing at the joint by making 2 slices in the clamped area and spreading the tubing apart. This is prolly the best way to remove the stock system. The Gibson is a good product too. I'd recomend the stainless steel over the aluminized version.

Re: Gibson or Borla Cat-Back??

I have the Gibson stainless system on my truck. Single exist like your looking at. Sounds decent and easy to install. And very nice polished tip, sets it off nicely. Highly recommended.

Re: Gibson or Borla Cat-Back??

I'd say either brand will work great. I have the Gibson. Here are some pictures:
