Well, it seems like I'm loved just a little more with the new Upgrades -General forum...

So here goes!!
I have new tranny temp, water temp and oil pressure guages ready to install...
What I need to know is where should I put the sensors for the water and oil? I understand the 4R100 tranny has an additional point for me to place the new tranny temp sensor, is that right?
Thanks...
Chip

What type of gauge are they ??mech or electrical?
I put my oil which was the real deal with tubing and all ,in drivers side head toward rear there is a plug there.
As for water temp You need a electrical type and that can go in drivers side block another plug.
Tranny has plug on side above pan make sure it is the short probe the long one will NOT work..

I installed a Banks gage on my 2000 for the tranny. Short probe, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the probe into the side port. A few people have overtightened and snapped the probe end off inside the tranny...not good. I had one of the early 2000's that did not have the water to oil cooler, but I had one of the TSB's done(adds water cooler and inline filter) and in town driving 94-degrees, stop and go...I have never seen above 165. I have heard somewhere that the tranny temp typically runs about 70-80 degrees above the outside temperature. I mounted the gauge right below the spot where the ESOF switch would normally sit(i have manual hubs). Used hole saw drill bit to cut into dash, found one of the customer access wires for power and we had a working gauge. The only thing about the BANKS gauge is that it only begins to read at temps over 140...thinking about switching out for a lower reading gauge. Good luck....

Same gauges that I picked they match perfect with factory.
They are easyer, as for the water temp.
I hooked up to the wire behind light switch to get mine to dim.

Yeah, and I'm an IDIOT! I believe I read your most excellent write-up some time ago, Stan and with the excellent pics, etc., I don't think I can go wrong using your install instructions...thanks alot, that's what makes this site so worthwhile!
Hey, I was wondering if anyone else has done this in the '03 with the grab handle and how that impacts the installation...
Thanks again, Stan. I believe I will start this next week (or possibly this weekend) as I took next week off work... ...so expect some posts from me asking where I went wrong...
