? on guting a cat on a gasser

If I where to gut the cat on a 97 F250 with a 351 what permance benifits might I expect to see? Will it afect the air/fuel mixture? I plan on leaving the stoke O2 senser in place if possable. Thanks

Do not do it. It will not make any differance.

By looking at your sig, appears you've pretty much done all the inexpensive mods.

From here your looking at induction changes (super, turbo, nitrous) and cubic inch changes. HP = $$$

Yesdear, Flowmaster makes a Y-pipe perfect for doing this. It eliminates the cat completely but the O2 sensor remains in the stock location. While you're at it get rid of the associated metal piping going to the air pump and the pump itself along with other related components. You might as well upgrade the muffler while you're under there too. The Flowmaster piece is a weld in unit. The truck will feel snappier after doing this. -ibuytoys

Thanks for the input guys! I may try the Flowmaster Y pipe, & go for the Amsoil airfilter. Thanks again! Yesdear

Just the typical filter, exhaust, and chip. Don't expect too much. These engines are not like the PSDs in which you can add a chip and get 50+ HP more. Most claim they saw not much of an improvement over stock, and have to run premium gas to boot. A blower on the other hand, now that might be exiting.
