Re: Has anyone noticed......
Folks with the 5.4L + 3.73 dont seem to be getting that much better mpg than with the 5.4L + 4.10.
City mileage is the same, and highway mileage may be .5mpg better or so with the 3.73.
I have the 4.10LS and I think this is a good ratio for the 5.4L. I have the 5sp, and RPM's at 55 are around 1850 or so. and around 2400 at 70. Not tremendously high rpm, and yet still into meat of the power/torque curve of the 5.4L.
Remember, the stock SuperDuty tires are larger than an F150. The SuperDuty with a 3.73 is about like an F150 with a 3.55, except the SD weighs a good bit more.
If you do alot of highway driving, empty, and don't plan on getting larger tires, then the 3.73 advantages will show..
However, if you do mixed driving (city + highway), haul or tow, or plan on getting larger tires, then I think the 4.10 is a better ratio.
My opinions.
