Header impressions

I've had the Borla headers installed for a few weeks now. I can say it was definitely worth the trouble. My truck drives better than ever, and seems to have a ton of torque and power. It'll lug itself up hills at 1200-1300 rpm in overdrive before upshifting. Passing power is awesome. I've noticed about 1/2 mpg increase after using a couple tanks of gas. The exhaust tone is a little louder, but not much. It's more of a rumbly growling sound.

My transmission also seems to shift perfectly. I think this is more due to the installation of the Evergreen Poweraid. When I installed it one of the things it did was take the 'slop' out of the throttle and transmission cables. Since then it seems to upshift/downshift at just the right time.

Re: Header impressions

The Borla does a good job in controlling the V10's strange exhuast tone. It is just a bit louder than stock. No raspy or harsh noises. No V8 rumble either. It's been on there prolly 60k + miles. So far no signs of rust or rot.

Re: Header impressions

You guys are killing me...

I want them something terrible, but just can't bring myself to drop the big $$ on a Banks system. And even though I wouldn't have the EGR problem, it's tough to consider Borla because of their problems. But the price is so much better!

Re: Header impressions

Nomo - Other than the problem I had with the EGR fitting the Borla headers are great. They fit perfectly. The included Stage 8 bolts use a 7/16" wrench or Allen wrenches. I even have more room to change the oil filter.

No matter what brand of headers you choose you'll need a large selection of metric tools for the Ford stuff.

Re: Header impressions

Nomo,

Ah just do it! I'd imagine that in the next few weeks or months, truckperformance.com will be having sales as the holidays near and to boost sales due to the wavering economy.
