which headers ??

I'm thinking about getting the Banks headers and Y-pipe and I was wondering if anyone here has them, and what you think? Also why are they so much more than JBA and Borla? I had some flowtech's on my 5.8L Bronco and they didnt fit that great plus they cracked at the EGR tube.

Thanks

Re: which headers ??

The Banks headers are 5/8ths in. at the flanges. I believe the others, JBA and Borla are 3/8ths. The thicker flanges sound better to me when mating stainless steel to aluminum.

The Banks headers have a device in the collector called a "Power Pickle", probably due to it's shape. It's supposed to be aerodynamic, they say to allow the exhaust gases to be pulled from the combustion chambers.

While they cost a little more, if you call around you can find a better price than Banks offers. I'm going to order their Powerpack for my Excursion.

No, I don't work for Banks.

Re: which headers ??

I have the Banks Powerpack on my 350,headers are top quality, fit perfectly, and the power increase is awesome.Banks is not the place to buy from though. I got mine from Fuel Injection in Allentown Pa.

Re: which headers ??

Banks PowerPack here. I love it. The thicker flange was a chnage for 2000 to eliminate the leaks thay had on some installations. Bought mine from DIS.

Re: which headers ??

Do the Banks headers/Y-pipe eliminate the common V10 flutter problem noted elsewhere on this forum? Do they result in more torque and/or hp?

Re: which headers ??

goldenpaws, Banks #'s are:

HP- up 49.2hp
TQ- up 58.7 lb/ft

These are both 25.5% improvements at the rear wheels, and are '99 model year #'s. The '00's and up would be slightly higher. These numbers also include their Ram Air intake and Monster exhaust. (catback)

I just posted my purchase experience on the other Banks topic on this thread.

Thanks guys!
