Heater bypass, which hose, which way?

I'd like to install my heater bypass valve I got from bob riley but I have no idea which hose to put it on and in which direction the arrow should be pointing. I could just pull a hose and start her up to see but, I really hate getting soaked in the stuff.

Re: Heater bypass, which hose, which way?

I already had it started and had to get it done before it started raining so I took a guess. If you're looking at it from the front of the truck it seems that the hose on the right comes out of the top of the head and the one on the left loops around to the back of the engine and connects to metal tubing that runs between the upper and lower intake manifold and shots to the front of the engine going to I assume the water pump. So I decided to cut the right hose that looks to come from the head and install the arrow of the shut off valve towards the back of the truck. I hope I'm right since I'd hate to have to try it again. Anyone got some good news for me that says I'm right?

J.C.

I haven't done this, but Stan Wright has a write up using a shut off valve. See link here.

Re: Heater bypass, which hose, which way?

Thanks for the link SDv10. Doesn't look like he had to worry about flow direction with his valve though. Mine seems to be working so I'm pretty sure I have mine going the right way. It hasn't been warm enough to really try it out though, not that I'm complaining about the 60-70 degree days.
