Help:Michelin LTX M/S or BFG TA KO?

I am not sure which tire to buy the Michelin LTX M/S in a 265-75-16,
or a BFG TA ko 285-75-16. I can get either tire for the same price. I know the Michelins are good tires, Ive had them on another truck and they were great, even in the rain. My question is about the BFG's, how are they in the wet? Also are they noisy? I drive on the highway about 98% of the time, so I don't want to loose any mpg's either. How bad of a hit is it to go to the 285's? One other point the Michelins are "E" load range where the BFG's are "D". But the BFG's have a beefed-up sidewall and the bigger tire looks better. Any info is appreciated.

Re: Help:Michelin LTX M/S or BFG TA KO?

I have the 265s Michelin LTXs on my suburban and I think they are alot better in the ran and wet pavement then the 295s BF ATs I have on my superduty. BFs will spin till you take your foot off the gas on wet or dry as far as that goes. The Michelins are the way to go in wet weather they don't spin and as stupid as this sounds, it sounds like little suction cups when you slow down on the wet pavement. If your ever off road thou or for just the looks Bf s are the way to go.

Thanks Munkey, I think i'll get the Michelins. I haven't heard too many good things about the BFGs..I figured I would get more than 1 response from 200 read, what a joke...or it tells me not too many people buy decent tires...

Don't think you'll be sorry. BFs look good and are good on drier trails but they don't do good on wet or slick roads. Check my sig the pics should be there by now. This was my buddies suburban last Spring break going to Snowy Range,Wyoming. His NEW BFs ATs didn't handle the icy roads and he ended up rolling and totalling his truck and I had gone over the bridge without even a squerm between truck and trailer. Thats when I decided to leave my Michelins on my truck that ussually has my family in it on these kinds of roads. However the BFs on my superduty are my 6th set between my GMC pu and my Bronco. They do have thier place. Good luck

Re: Help:Michelin LTX M/S or BFG TA KO?

My buddy has the BFG's on his 4x4 F350 and I have the Michelins LTX M/S. He loves his but doesn't haul anything and takes his off road on week-ends. I ,in turn, haul heavy weight sometimes, and prefer the "e" rating with the higher SRW payload of the Michelin. The LTX's have been very good in snow and rain and are VERY quiet. Their drawback is they don't do well in mud (Dod*e guy told me) and they pick up gravel in the treads when driving gravel roads. Either one is a good tire. Good Luck
