Hood insulation missing?

I have no hood insulation on the inside of my hood. Is this a mistake or does Ford believe that the V-8 does not generate enough heat to affect the outer hood paint?

Please advise if I am alone in this.

Thanks,

Re: Hood insulation missing?

It's not a mistake. Hood insulation was deleted from all gassers in 99.

Re: Hood insulation missing?

How hard would it be to order and install it oneself? Anybody tried it?

Re: Hood insulation missing?

I think the insulation is there more for sound suppression than heat concerns.

The diesel weenies are all atitter about the potential roll-out of a new/better aftermarket insulator. Cost around $270.

See the thread in accessories.

Re: Hood insulation missing?

The installation of an underhood factory blanket would take an untrained monkey about 10 minutes. It may take me 15 because I'm sure the monkey could crawl up on top of the engine quicker than I could. And yes, the insulation is a sound deadener and not a heat insulator.
