Hypertech programmer

Is this thing worth putting on? I've had it sitting on my desk for 6 months now and it's either gotta go on e-bay or on my truck. I talked to hypertech and they said all they do is lean the crap out of it and bump the timing way up (they said it in a much more convincing way). Is it gunna give me 50 hp or an extra $20 at the pump for 92 and more pinging?

BTW, why are people selling used programmers? They only work for one truck before it vin locks...right?

Re: Hypertech programmer

Well you can use the dual fuel setting and still run 87 in your truck.

You can use the programmer on ANY truck as long as the application number is the same. You MUST return the truck to the stock program before loading a different truck with the programmer.

I have a HYPERTECH PPIII and it brought the truck back into the power band. I lost ALOT of power with the larger tires and wheels. I really have enjoyed the PPIII and I would recommed it if you don't want to install a chip. No way are you gonna gain 50+hp. I'd have to see DYNO sheets on that one.

Re: Hypertech programmer

I don't think it matters but the one I have is the Superchips, no Hypertech. Thanks, I'll try it out.

Re: Hypertech programmer

On my truck it helped power a little but mostly it firmed up the tranny NICE!
I would keep it for just the tranny.
But it did add a little power. and maybe 1.5 MPGs on HWY
I have not really played with the 93 octane setting yet cause truck is a work truck, filled with tools.
Someday when I clean it out I will play...

Re: Hypertech programmer

I finally figured out where the fuel pump fuse was, pulled it and turned the key on to make sure it was disconected and the CHECK ENGINE light is fluttering and it sounds like a relay is clicking on and off at about 10 times per second (like a blinker but louder). It sounds like I'm messing something up. Anyone experience this? I'm holding off the install until I figure this out.
