i am interested in installing headers on my v-10 and was wondering if anyone has done this yet, and how hard it was installing them. i had headers on my 93' 302 and they were nothing but trouble. gaskets blew out, and the bolts we really hard to get in, really tight wrench areas. is it any different with the v-10, easier, harder or whatever. i just want to get a little hindsight before i go and spend alot on something i might not want.

why do you want to install headers looking for more horsepower? if thats the case you should look into superchips i bought one from dieselpro.net and yes they do sell chips for gas engins i gained 70 horsepower and it's a do it your self process that takes only about 15 munites just thought you would like to know good luck.
quote:
Originally posted by WhiteSuperDuty: i am interested in installing headers on my v-10 and was wondering if anyone has done this yet, and how hard it was installing them. i had headers on my 93' 302 and they were nothing but trouble. gaskets blew out, and the bolts we really hard to get in, really tight wrench areas. is it any different with the v-10, easier, harder or whatever. i just want to get a little hindsight before i go and spend alot on something i might not want.

Sorry, haven't done it myself, but hope to this summer. From what others say, it takes a while (~10 hrs). Pretty sure that there are still the space limitations which make isntallation a bear.

WOW! A 70HP gain! Squeezing another 22% out of the v10 is a remarkable task. Do you have any dyno charts? I'd like to see the power curves if you do.
Do it!! I installed the banks headers on my V10 motorhome, took about 8 hours, they came as part of the banks powerpack system.(no chip), this thing is a screamer now.

on my 93'302 it took about 6 hours, and that was including the removal of the old exhaust. should i expect about the same, and is it worth it?

I have the Banks PowerPack and the SuperChip and love them both!
Yes, the PowerPack does take some time and effort. It took two of us with a shop and lift 10 hours to do the install. Each header took 4 hours to install. http://ic.net/~wawii/banks/
is the superchip worth the money, and can i return it if im not satisfied with the results?
