K&n air filter

I have noticed that a lot of you still run this filter. After reading some of the older post I was wondering if any of you have had trouble with oil getting on that sensor wire the other post were concerned about.

Re: K&n air filter

I've used a K&N filter for 4 years on my wife's Expedition. Not once have I had any problems. Just be sure to not over-oil the filter when you clean it and everything will be fine.

When it comes time to change the one in my SD, I'll go with a K&N.

Re: K&n air filter

I had the K&N filter charger kit on my other truck and had know problem with that, But friend of mine had problem with mustang. All he did was to take a Qtip and Rubbing Alchol rub this on the wire(mass air flow sensor) very carfully, this should take care of it.

Re: K&n air filter

I've used my K&N for 30k in my F150 then moved it into my F250. I have 69k on the F250. No problems.

Re: K&n air filter

I also transplanted my K&N filter from my '97 F-150 to my Y2K F-250 SD -- no problems with either engine.

Re: K&n air filter

Well here is my opinion on the k&n, first they are good if you aren't in a dusty area, around here the dust is pretty bad at times, and they don't stop all the dust from getting in to the engine, and second I don't think they really make that big a differnce, not enough anyway to risk hurting your engine. Just my humble opinion, Mason

Re: K&n air filter

I've had several and like 'em.

First, if you keep the truck past the point of changing 4 regular air filters (probably 2 years or less for most of us), they (K&N)pay for themselves.

Second, they don't need to be cleaned near as often as a regular filter needs to be changed due to more surface area.

Third, I ran them in race bikes for years in dust that was choking with no perceptible ring or piston wear other than normal "wear and tear".

I do recommend them.
