Lemon for sale in Montana!

Anyone remember my terrible problems with the V-10 Crew Cab and the infamous "Flutter" problem that it had? Well, I just drove by the dealership (Bozeman Ford) and there is the ol' lemon sitting on the lot, up for sale! I wonder if someone called and inquired about used Crew Cabs' if they would disclose that they know it has a serious problem? After I traded it in, they told me they would resolve the problem or disclose it to the new owner when the truck was sold. I know for a fact that the service manager knows about it and even admitted that he wouldn't have put up with it either (after he finally heard the noise)

Anyway, I am very dissapointed that they would knowingly let another customer go through what I went through.

If anyone has the guts and wants to call them on it, look them up and ask for Tom Putnam. I'm curious how he would react.

This site should have a Lemon info area where I could post the VIN number and details. 1FTNW21SXYED32297 is the VIN. I've had that number memorized since I was tracking the truck on BNSF. What a dissapointment it turned out to be!

Re: Lemon for sale in Montana!

I tell you what, the flutter on my 2001 is downright obnoxious. It's very embarrasing when tooling around in heavy traffic because the noise is so awful. I have not even bothered taking it to Ford yet because I doubt they can fix it. I do not know what to do about this so for now I am just living with it.

Re: Lemon for sale in Montana!

Went to lunch with some of my co-workers a while back. We took my truck and the discussion of it's size was prevelent. Finally, someone asked why I didn't get a PSD. Giving my reasons, one guy that had ridden in the '00 F250 chimed in that I was fickle because my last truck WAS a diesel!! Had to tell him that it was a V10 & explain "flutter". People actually mistaking a V10 for a PSD- that's how bad the '00 sounded!

The '01 is what I'd expect a gas engine to sound like (or NOT sound like )

Re: Lemon for sale in Montana!

I know this has been said before but it bears repeating in case anyone with flutter is unsure of the cure. Headers fix it. I had mild flutter compared to what I've heard about but I could reproduce it at any time. Since I put on the headers it has been gone.
