I've been wondering around enjoying this site for a few weeks now.I'm ready now for ask my first big question.I have a 99 250 sd sc s/box v-10 on 285's,WE are ready to lift it to run 315/75's on 10 rims. What is the real differents in the leveling kits and the bracket lifts.I dont want a bunch of over kill to run these tires.Just clearence enough to clear them.
Hey tater, I'd post this in the upgrades and aftermarket forum (just don't even mention gasser or Smokey will sh_itcan it quick even asking about a lift). Tons of guys will reply. Be prepared to start a war between Edge and the rest though I'd give you a few pointers on the shackle lifts and hangers, but I just bypassed that and went with an all spring lift. Rides like a truck should.
That said, are you lifting it to lift it, or lifting it to clear tires? If lifting, go bigger. 315's are about right for a stock height truck, IMHO.
Thanks Guys,
Bajarunner I'm just lifting enough to get the tires on.I've got the famous Ford raked front end.The rear will clear but the front I'm worried about with 35 inch tires. So I'm just going to level it but dont knpw which way to go.
Just to clear tires I would go the cheapest wrote. Do a little homework. You may even get by with the correct offset and a little bumper shimming and inner fender trimming. See if you can get a mounted width measurement of that tire with the 10 inch rim. You may be able to see/determine where your rubbing issues are going to be.
