OK, I just looked at a 2000 F350.. The truck was very clean and had 32k on the Odometer. The Rubber pad on the Brake peddle was warn trough to the metal. That seamed kind of wierd to me. I know some people that have disconected speedos or had gear reducers on the spedo cable. I would never do this but how hard would it be to do it on one of these trucks? Is it possible that the boot could wear through after only 32K? The stearing wheel seemed to be a little worn as well. The truck was at a little car dealer and had a carfax with it. Let me hear your thoughts, although I am sure they will only confirm what I am thinking.
thanks

My 2000 brake pedal with 21,000 miles on it still looks brand new and I drive mostly in the City (so lots of braking!). It could just be that the owner was one of those "accordion footed" drivers. Or a tap dancer that practiced a lot while driving . Either way, it certainly shows poor driving habits.
I don't know anything about the odometer issue, except that the penalties are severe for messing with them

IF the SD is like the Ranger then all you have to do is disconnect the sensor from the rear end by the diff, my Rangers used a tone ring that is next to the ring gear. That would have stopped the speedo and od. The brake pedal is odd, I've put wear on them but never that bad in 32,000. If it has a carfax report that is good and its a good price then buy it and get with ford on an extended warrantee.
I think you may have answered your own question regarding odometer fraud, one of the signs to look for is the one you mentioned (rubber being worn off the brake pedal) as well as a few others. It could be due to the fact that the previous owner was especially hard on the truck but that doesn't seem likely. In any event if you are still serious about possibly purchasing this truck I would take it in to a good competent mechanic and have him look it over carefully.

The truck looked well maintained otherwise. The only other thing I noticed was the right front tire was not wearing evenly. The left front looked OK. They are asking 20900 for it, which is less than the other ones for sale in my area. It is an extended cab, short box, XLT, 4x4, auto. The owner of the dealership is supposed to call me today, so I will see what he has to say and go from there.
I might have to keep lookin.

I've got 97,000 on mine and the brake pad is worn but not to the metal. If someone did disconect the speed sensor on the axle the truck would run like crap. Harsh shifts and such. Could it be the owner wore boots? Hows the carpet under the pedals?

I have a 2000 F350 CC V-10 with 29000 miles and it looks like new, everywhere (including the brake pedal and the steering wheel). I suppose it could depend on the type of boots the owner wore when driving, how hard they stepped on the brakes, and whether they rode the brake pedal. Does seem odd that you would see that type of wear on a truck with so few miles. Email me privately if you like, and I'll run a carfax on it since I just bought a month's worth of unlimited carfax useage.

Thanks for the Carfax offer. I found a couple more that I am going to look at this weekend, so I might have to take you up on the offer. The Dealer let me take the truck for half a day and I went trough it thoroughly . The truck had a blade on it before and I think it was heavily plowed. It looked like It was undercoated after the blade was removed. The carpets looked fine but had been cleaned. When the truck was in the right light you could tell that there were stickers on it at one time. I tried to call the # to get some history but it had been disconnected. The truck was leased. The drive train seemed tight but the Transmission was a little sluggish when I first took off. It felt ok after that. It was very cold the night before. It had a lot more power than the 99 I drove. I will take a pass on this one. How is the 5 speed with the V10? I am going to look at a 01 F350 with a stick.
