lower temp thermostat?

hey i have an 02 f250 with the v10 in it i have a custom y pipe ,intake ,exhaust,throttle bodie spacer and i was looking at getting the jet chips lower temp thermostat and have been told a bunch of different storys about them robbing horse power, decreasing gas mileage,and just not working and wanted to know the truth about them from someone who had more information

while im at it does anybody know about the chip that jet offers

I don't know about the jet chips specifically, but if you put in a lower temp t-stat without a program to adjust the computer for that t-stat you will definatley lower the fuel economy. The computer will never see the engine up to temp and not propery reduce fuel for a warm engine. It will always run rich and probably wind up burning out the cat converter.
