I don't know about the jet chips specifically, but if you put in a lower temp t-stat without a program to adjust the computer for that t-stat you will definatley lower the fuel economy. The computer will never see the engine up to temp and not propery reduce fuel for a warm engine. It will always run rich and probably wind up burning out the cat converter.
