More power

Can anyone tell me some of the more cost effective ways to get more power out of my V10? It is an 03. It has only 60k miles on it and I drive a little truck around town and I would like to get some bigger power out of this beast. I was told that stock it is about 310hp and 420fpt. I would like to see maybe 400hp and 500+fpt. Any help??

The only way you'll make that much power is a supercharger or nos.

That sounds expensive. I did not know I was going to have to do all that.

The newer gas engines are well optimized from the factory. You can get small gains by adding a less restrictive air filter and muffler. You can also get small gains by adding a chip which will require premium gas to be effective. The Banks Powerpack system which has all of the above plus headers claims a +56 hp increase which in my opinion is generous. Unfortunately us gassers can't get the big gains like the oil burners can on a low budget.

Change your gears to 4.30's. The power at the crankshaft won't change but it'll respond better when you give it gas.

Hello, 1st post here and came from FTE since they have somewhat of a "trash talk" issue with some of the people.

Anyhow, in order to get that kind of power, you need a blower. Vortech claims 563 TQ so I'd start there. I've done just about everything offered to my '99 V10 F-350 and this is my next project.

gears would be my first options if the truck is lifted. next i would look into a turbo setup. sts makes a pretty trick looking kit that locates the turbo under the bed which helps keep the air temp down so you dont need a intercooler. if you are mechanically inclined you can build a turbo set up and easily put up those numbers. im curious to see what the cost of a supercharger and the fuel milage is afterwards. i would bet u would be cheaper. easier and more satisfied with a diesel truck. the cost equasion between adding a s/c to a gasser to the initial price of a diesel are about the same. the problem with adding a s/c is less hp because it takes hp to turn the s/c. and lack of programming and trouble shooting
