The most miles I ever traveled on a single tank on my V10 was 346. Had the 29 gallon tank, 3.73 axle, 265 tires, auto trans, F250 supercab. Averaged 12.2 MPG over the almost 13,000 miles I put on it in 11 months.

After driving 453.4 miles I went to a gas station with brand new pumps hoping they would be most accurate. Result was 38.001 gallons @ $1.20 per gallon! I was either on fumes only or this tank is slightly larger than 38 gallons? Average MPG comes to 11.93...thats about 80% city driving. $45.56 was the most I've ever spent at a gas station! Won't be doing that again until I take a roadtrip so I can see how far I can get on a tank driving all highway miles. Wawii claims to have gotten 406 miles on a 29 gallon tank so I'm sure I could get at least 510-520. No trips planned any time soon. Fuel light came on and needle hit "E" at 375 miles, which means I drove 78 miles afterwards.
This is a crew cab long bed V-10 with automatic, 3:73 limited slip axle, and 235/85/16 tires.

I have actually twice put in 31 gallons into my supposedly 29 gallon tank. Not sure if it was the pumps or if really the tank is a little larger.

An old fashioned carburated car would hold 1 gallon of gas in it. With EFI there are two fuel lines, add the large truck and you can store about 3 or 4 gallons of gas in the fuel line itself. So if the truck was just about to die from no gas at all you may get another gallon in due to the fuel lines. Most likely the tanks is just a little big. My S10 blazer has a 15 gallon tank but I put 17 gallon in all the time and I have at least 1 gallon left in the tank at the time.
Later, Greg
