mpg on 2000 v10

kinda curious on what everyone is getting for mpg, Im kinda disapointed Im gettin a cositent 9 with mine with a mix of highway and around town driving. I have the v10 with a auto and 3.73 gears 4wd. My wifes excursion is getting 11.5 to 12 and I believe the drivetrain is the same. I expected 10 or 11 so its not the end of the world but just seemed a little odd that theres such a difference. By the way the truck has 70,000 and the excursion has 88.000 miles.

Re: mpg on 2000 v10

Where do you live, how do you drive, what's in the truck, trailer, etc ???? All have a huge impact on mpg. Is the Ex the same year? 2001 and up had a little more power and seem to pull a bit better fuel economy. 9 is a little low for mixed driving unless you're climbing hills and drag racing from every stop light.

At my house my wife usually gets better fuel economy than I do in the same vehicle - softer foot. My 2WD CC gets between 12 and 13, but it's relatively flat around here.

I still have 1 2000 V10, 4X4, Ext.cab w 4.30's. Around 90,000 miles on odometer. Still to this day it gets a consistant 12.5 mpg. Thats unless you hook up to a trailer

Re: mpg on 2000 v10

been noticeing that when Im driving it doesent shift into over drive until after I break 40mph if Im going slower, lets say cruiseing at 35 it will stay in third and never shift into overdrive, unless I accelerate upto above 40mph. Could this be why Im not breaking anything above 9, last tank was 7.5

I have the same setup as you, and mine gets 12.5mpg all around, doesn't seem to make much diff if city or highway.
