MPG Up 1.6 on '00 Ex V10

Well I've got 2,500 miles on the new setup and the mileage is pretty stable at 11.8 mpg. Old mileage before resetting and with the stock setup was 10.2 mpg. Yeehah 15%. Mods were K&N FIPK and Dynomax ST muffler. So far so good.

It will go up even more as the miles roll on. The drivetrain is still pretty tight on your truck. After 10 k you should see another jump.

PediDr,

Is this your average of daily driving? What is your mileage on the highway? What gear ratio? I have only been using a K&N air filter and Mobil Semi-Syn. My mileage is 11 city and 14 on trips. I'm not convinced the add on of just the muffler will help. I sent back the Dnynomax muffler I purchased. The guy I asked to install said most of the restriction is in the catalyst.

You might want to check ACTUAL mileage VS. overhead console computer. Mines off usually .3 tenths to the negative, but lately it's been just the opposite.

Mileage on mine went from NEW TRUCK 10.8 "in town" mpg up to 11.9 "in town" (7700 miles on it) on my last 2 fillups. Not bad for 4x4 and auto. trans.

I might try 5w-20w on the next oil change to see if it makes any difference.

My mileage with the Banks install is only up about 1/2 an mpg, +/- two-tenths.

As I stated before, IMHO, mileage is a VERY subjective thing!

My wife mostly drives the kids around town. We are rarely on the highway. For the MPG's quoted I just looked at the overhead console. It was 10.2 with ~4600 miles and I reset it after the FIPK and muffler. The new MPG has settled in at 11.8 and the odometer is ~7600. I don't calculate tank to tank, maybe I should to be more accurate, but I hardly drive the thing and rarely put gas in it. The vehicle is otherwise stock, I couldn't tell you what rear is in it.
Not claiming anything too scientific just throwing out my results and methods.
