I hate to start yet another flutter thread, but there are so many now, that I'm afraid my '01 pipe results will be overlooked by many who are waiting for a fix. So, I'm reposting my reply in the "webigon flutter" thread to this new one:
--------------------------------------------
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE, I can now also confirm that the 2001 pipe works. The flutter is almost completely gone!!! There is still a very faint trace of the sound under load, but nowhere near what I had before. I spent $90 and about an hours work, and I am very satisfied for now. I am still going to have a custom Y-Pipe made since I'm not too sure about the necked down '01 pipe, or try a cat delete "test pipe", or maybe just wait and get the Borla or Banks system later on.
If anyone else wants to give it a shot, here are the part numbers: 1C3Z-5246-AA 2001 Y-Pipe F6TZ-5C226-BA Gasket (Y-Pipe to Cat)
List price is about $80 for both parts without tax, and it's a simple job. All you need is a 7/8" open end for the o2 sensors, and a 15mm deep socket for all the nuts. I didn't even have to jack the truck up to get the pipe out. Just remove both O2 sensors (The passenger plug is very hard to get to, but there is plenty of slack in the wire, so you don't need to unplug them), remove the seven nuts at the ends of the pipe, remove the old pipe, clean up the flange going to the catalytic converter for the new gasket, and pop the new pipe in. That's it.
A couple of tips to make the job even easier, be sure and have a few extensions and a swivel or two. The passenger side header nuts and top nut on the rear of the y-pipe are pretty hard to get to with the old pipe. Much easier to put back in with the '01 pipe. Also, it is a lot easier to remove the pipe if you pop off one or two of the exhaust hangers behind the catalytic converter. Just make sure you put the hangers back on before you start tightening everything down. I made that mistake and it took me about 15 minutes to force them back on with everything bolted up.
I also posted some more pictures of the old and new pipes. Check my sig for the Y-Pipe pics.
If anyone else tries this pipe, keep us posted.

Please let us know when and where you have the 'custom' Y-pipe made and the results. If the custom pipe works, perhaps collectively we can negotiate a quantity discount on a 'production run'.
I'm still having problem with the length to the tail pipe. Can get get a picture of your old pipe with a take measure running from the cat flange to the y part. I have about 42" on mine. It's a 99.5 CC LWB 4x4. The cat flange is almost even with the middle of the transfer case. Or about even with the FRONT of the transfer case guard.
I don't think this pipe will work for you, unless you buy the '00 cat as well, or have another flange welded up to where it would be on an '00 or '01. My rear flange on the original '00 pipe is only about 16 inches from where the left and right intersect.

Now I know why my early '01 has 'da fluttas'. After studying the photos linked above, I crawled under my truck. Eureka! The '00 y-pipe is installed on my truck, (not to mention the rear sway bar is missing). Back to the dealer, pics in hand!
