Re: No new Y pipe! now Voided Waranty!

I'm sorry to hear that. Having just been through a similarly frustrating incident, you have my sympathy and support. Stay after them!

No new Y pipe! now Voided Waranty!

I took my truck into the dealer this morning to get a section of flex pipe installed in my truck. I have been waiting for 5 months for the "new" Y pipe that was being release. Back in November I was told that this new Y pipe was not necked down and had flex tube built into it. This was in response to a vibration issue I have had for 7000 miles. About a week ago, I found out that there is no new Y pipe and that I had been flat out lied to by the dealer and/or the Ford rep. They did however agree to put a section of flex pipe between the Cat and the Y pipe. So, I was suposed to have this flex pipe installed today. But, I got a call from the dealer that the Ford Rep is Voiding my warranty for this problem because I have a flowmaster muffler on the truck. Keep in mind that that muffler has only been on there for about 2,000 miles and was not present for the 1st 3 trips to the dealer. The dealer acknowledges that too.

So, I have asked for a written and signed statement on why they will not fix my truck. The dealer says he will not do it, so I told him to get it from the Ford Rep.

I also vowed to be the customer from hell and plan on calling then every day until this is resolved. I am going to pick the truck up this afternoon.

One pissed off, MNguy!

Re: No new Y pipe! now Voided Waranty!

If you want results, contact the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) and let them know of your situation and which dealer it is with. The FTC frowns on warranty denials due to aftermarket parts installations and they swing a very large bat. They would be than happy to assist in a remedy for your situation. Here is a clip and aome links from our site:
The installation of Vortech products, except those defined as "for racing use only" do not void the
new vehicle warranty nor should they cause the vehicle to fail emissions tests. Notify the vehicle
manufacturer if either of these situations occur. If the vehicle manufacturer fails to honor
emission/warranty claims, you may contact the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at (202)
260-2080 or www.epa.gov. If federal warranty protection is denied, call the Federal Trade
Commission (FTC) at (202) 326-3128 or www.ftc.gov. Additional information is available at the
Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) website www.sema.org.

You know the old saying about the squeeky wheel, and it usually works. Be persistant and keep us posted.

Do a search for "Dispute Settlement Board". Mine went back 4 times for a power steering problem and now their buying it back. Don't let them jerk you around!
