Question about Super Chip

I have a 1999 F250 V10 Super Duty and i pull a 9 thousand lb 5th wheel camper. My gas mileage is 8.5, i just put in the k&n air filter but my question is how much would the superchip really help my gas mileage?

Not much,if any.
I'm sure a few will tell you they got a few extra mpg, but I think the reality is you will not gain any significant mpg.I have had Superchips in my last three gassers and base my opinion on my experience.
The value in the Superchip is in the transmission programming.

Re: Question about Super Chip

The SCMT doesn't help fuel milage very much or any at all on gassers. They usually do get you a couple extra mpg on a diesel though.

Re: Question about Super Chip

You need to get on the gasser forum and ask these questions. In fact, do a search on the gasser forum and you will find the answer to your questions.

Re: Question about Super Chip

The best thing would be a set of headers and cat-back exhaust. Banks or Borla come to mind. You may pick up 1 mpg towing. On the down side you'll never make up the price of the exhaust system in mpg savings. You would have to do it for the performance gains rather than mpg savings.

Re: Question about Super Chip

With most of the chips and tuners you have to run premium gas.

Re: Question about Super Chip

Have run a SCMT on my old '99 along with other mods, you will be hard pressed to gain ANY mpg results. The SCMT will allow you to run 3 different tunes that will require different grade gas.
The biggest thing you could do to improve mileage is decrease the actual weight of the truck or what you are towing. Maybe you can shift some weight around and find a better center of gravity that the truck likes to pull.
