Question over supercharger!

I found a 2001 Ford Lightning supercharger. Question is will it fit on my 99 f-250 with a 5,4 ltr. I know that the lightings are running with 5.4s or i think. Will this fit on my truck? Thanks.

Re: Question over supercharger!

Technically speaking, from what I understand, yes. But, (there is always a but), your looking at changing out some pulleys and a computer or programing change. Fuel delivery on the supercharged engines is much different than stock 5.4's. I think they may even have dual fuel pumps. Don't know too much more.

Re: Question over supercharger!

I just sold my Lightning, but I would say you could swap it onto any 5.4.

You would need the entire manifold though and not just the supercharger. Also, on top of needing the computer, you would have to have a custom burned chip, because you will have more compression than a Lightning. The L has 8.4 compression, and the regular 5.4 is like 9.0-9.1.

I may be wrong on those numbers so don'e quote me, but I am pretty sure they are close. So with the added compression, you would need to run higher octane fuel and maybe pull out some timing. A chip burner would probably want to tune the chip on a dyno to get it right. I would guess you are looking at some serious cash.

In my opinion you would be better of bolting on one of the aftermarket supercharger kits and probably save some time and money.

The Lightning is a bad truck and I think supercharging is the best method of gaining performance. I cant wait to do the V10, but it will be a couple years.

Re: Question over supercharger!

ligthning with supercharger is something like 360hp. v10 is 315hp stock, add a supercharger on V10 and you're close to 500hp. Cost $4K. Don't waste your time and $.

I have a v10 Ex and a 2K1 lightning. Nothing like the pull of the ligthning. It's like driving in fast forward. Both get 8mpg.

Yes, I drive a lot in city streets and have serious road rage.. I hate slow cars.
