Read the orange tag on the Y2K tranny pan

Whats the meaning behind the notice on the
orange tag on the 2000 auto tranny? Does anyone else have the tag?

Re: Read the orange tag on the Y2K tranny pan

The 4R100 on my Y2K doesn't have one but if you have an orange tag saying something like "notify Ford if you're doing work on this" it's because they put that on new type or modified trannys to track common problems.

No, it's not a new or modified tranny. It's the same one they are running without the tag. It's marked for quality control. A certain number are selected at each line start up to be marked to be returned for examination if they fail rather than be rebuilt.

Re: Read the orange tag on the Y2K tranny pan

Hey guys, It's finally nice to see someone else with one of these tags. I have one on a 99 Mountaineer. Noone at ford could or would tell me what it was. I figured I'd find out when it blows to pieces.
