RPM'S AT 55MPH WITH 4.10 GEARS

Looking at a used 2001 F250 4x4, 5.4V8, 5spd, 4.10 gears with on 400 miles on it. Just curious as to what rpm's your engine is turning at 55mph. Most of my daily driving is done at this speed. I assume that this combo will pull a 23 foot 5th wheel that weighs in the mid 5K's. It's pretty flat around here so I don't have to worry about climbing and summit's with this camper. Thanks in advance.

You should see 1700 - 1800 rpm at 55 in 5th gear with the 4.10 rear.

This truck sounds very similar to mine (see signature). I'm not sure what my rpm's are at 55, but I will check and get back to you. I think they are less than 2000 @ 55 in 5th gear. I never run that slow. At 75 I am running about 2300 rpm's and get about 13.5 mpg's. You should do much better on the mileage at 55.

I occasionally pull a 2500 lb. travel trailer. I can run 70 with it, but my mileage drops to about 10.5. I can easily stay in 5th, even in a strong headwind.

Why is someone selling a new truck with only 400 miles on it? Have they had problems? How much is the truck?

4wheeler.........I don't know why they would be selling it either. I did a "carfax" lemon check on it and it said no reports of any kind have been filed. They price they had on the window was $23000.
