Salt and Plugs don't mix well ?

Guys

I'd like to change the plugs on my truck. And although I've been searching the web I haven't been able to log on to a solid article about the combo of 5.4 Super Duty, either it is a 5.4 in a F 150, or V10, etc.

Can someone steer me to a thread somewhere? I'd need the proper torque also.

In a 150 thread he removed the fuel line and power steering bracket or pump, is that really needed in a SuperDuty?

I just want to go into it well prepared and do it right since some of the articles have mentioned possible thread problems, plugs rusted into head if you wait to long, etc.

I've got 60000 now and plow snow in the winter so I'm concerned about salt down in around the plug. Maybe it's better to pull them now then waiting til 100000.

Thanks

Re: Salt and Plugs don't mix well ?

I went thru the same thing.. couldn't find anything on changing the plugs on my SuperDuty 5.4, and with the problems of plugs blowing out, I didn't want the hassle, so I had the dealer do it. I consider it cheap insurance if anything happens to my plugs.. Of course I had to pay a pretty penny to have it done, but my dealer sent me a 10% off any parts and labor coupon, so I saved some cash that way.

All in all, this is the first vehicle I've owned that I wouldn't touch the plugs on.. not exactly the most "user-friendly."

Try this link and see if it works?

The torque is really low, like 7-9 ft.lbs.

Good luck

Re: Salt and Plugs don't mix well ?

I have the Hyanes manual for this engine/truck and it recommnends for the plugs to be changed at 60k miles.
