Re: second half of frame question

Pretty sad isn't it... and you even own a PSD!

I'll try to look up some info when I get home. But, if I remember correctly, the F250 and F350 (all engines) use the same frame among similar cab & bed configurations.

Re: second half of frame question

Well, I was a little off...

According to the 2001 datasheets, F250 CC short-bed trucks (regardless of engine) have a frame made of 36,000psi steel with a section modulus of 5.6 cu. in.

The F250 CC long-bed and F350 Crew-cabs (long & short-beds) are made of 36,000psi steel with a section modulus of 6.0 cu. in.

Note that these are the FRAMES only! The suspension components will be very different between a 5.4L gasser and the PSD.

Re: second half of frame question

Well, I'd try to help you out but, we can't answer any questions about one of those PSD trucks in this forum. They use special PSD steel, plastic, an so forth in those trucks.

But anyway, like someone posted in the other forum, they've added a blocker beam to the front of the truck. Also, this isn't a model year difference but, the frames can also be a different thickness depending on what model and cab configeration you have.

Re: second half of frame question

J.C. you are very funny If you don't know the anwser then don't reply. It is about a frame not a motor. Reason is that I'm buying a plow off of a 99 V-8 super duty and going to put it on a 01 PSD super duty, just wanted to know if the frames are the same.

Now for you NoMo LOL every one has there opinion on what motor, sorry it is not to your liking but that is the way it is. Life goes on!!!!!

NoMo
Thanks For the research you did if there is any thing you can find please let me know. And Thanks again..........

Huh? I was just joking around about the PSD stuff because I also thought it was kinda silly about what you were told in the Upgrades & Aftermarket section. If you check there, I stood up for you since it was not an engine specific question and they shouldn't have been giving you a hard time.
And, I also answered your question in this thread. There was a blocker beam added since 99 and this isn't a model year difference but, the frame thicknesses could be different depending on model and cab configeration.

Re: second half of frame question

Scotty,
I shouldn't be down in this forum, "PSD" and all, but like I said up in the aftermarket forum, the blocker beam would be the only thing that would keep you from installing that plow, I know of some guys here that have removed theirs, to install spring hangers, so it shouldn't be a problem. Re: second half of frame question

Ford Superduty frames are modular, for service/repair purposes following a frontal collision. The boxed front sections are the same on all the trucks, including the Excursion and the chassis cabs. The riveted insert sleeve joint between the front boxed section and the rear C channel section can clearly seen near the aft front spring hangar on 4x4 vehicles, or near the aft radius arm anchor point on 4x2 vehicles.

The Ford Body Builder's Layout Book does not indicate so, but there may be a difference in the front crossmember and engine isolator mounts between the 5.4 liter gas Superduty and the...

(diesel portion continued in Upgrades and Aftermarkets Forum)

(OOPS... On Edit, not continued in the Upgrades forum, because the thread there is closed. According to the Administrator that closed the thread, this entire question, initially because the of word "gas", and now because it became evident that the question did not relate to the power motive function of the engine itself, actually belongs in the "Other" forum. We are told that Jason set aside the Other forum {you know, the one for handguns, chipper/shredders, CBS News, etc} for questions like this, even though this question relates to two different '99-up Superduties, and even though most of the questions in the Upgrades and Aftermarket section do not deal with engines, but instead cover shocks, springs, tires, lifts, snowplow mounting on 99up frames {check the archives}, seats, stereos, CB's, bedliners, bumpers, frontend replacements, and other non-engine specific, and non-powermotive function related aspects of 99-up Superduties. However, this particular question has been deemed to be only apportionable to the Other forum, {where I would never thought of to look to answer it}. So please, henceforth, look there for the continuation of this answer.)

J.c.
I'm sorry I was just very pissed what had happened over in that so called forum.

Thanks to every one that had helped me you all under stand that it was a question about a Frame.
Not a motor

{you know, the one for handguns, chipper/shredders, CBS News, etc}

Ya right this where I'm going to ask a question about a frame LOL LOL LOL

Re: second half of frame question

Scotty,
Sorry I can't specifically answer your question, but if I was a gambling man I'd say it would work. As far as I know there are no diesel specific bumpers or replacement front ends. I also think it was silly to have your post moved like it was. If you had asked a snow plow question "will it fit?" and said you were wanting to buy a snow plow that was currently on a '99 (even gas) and want to know if the mounting brackets would line up you probably wouldn't have been booted.
