Shift kit?

Has anyone installed a transmission shift kit in their truck? Are there any on the market for the V10 SD? I am curious as to how one would help the truck perform.

Re: Shift kit?

I installed the sonnax valve and tricumulater spring set in mine and it makes the truck shift much firmer...like a truck should shift. It allows for more line pressure in the accumulator body which in turn increases shifting firmness.

If increase shift firmness is what you want then I would suggest this mod.

Do a search in some of the archived upgrades and aftermarket forums to learn alot more about these products.

Re: Shift kit?

I just installed a Banks Transcommand module on my Excursion today. The difference was noticable on the test drive. Firm shifts when you step down on it, barely noticable during normal driving/unloaded. This was an unloaded/non towing test drive.

The unit works by dialing up the shift pressures somehow. Fairly simple install. Took me about an hour and 1/2. And that's with having to take a couple connectors apart again because I didn't put the pin retainers in. BD Power makes an electronic box that does a similar job, but is much more costly. The Banks module lists for 299.00, but you can find them at better prices.

Maybe this weekend I'll get to install My Powerpack!
