Somewhere on this site...

...someone in their sig, has a link to a picture file of his Superduty loaded up with a huge pile of 4 wheelers. I cannot find it or remember who the member is. I would love some help in finding it if anyone knows what I am talking about.

Seems like the truck in question was a V10 SC longbed. And I mean it had quads all over it! I would love to show the pic to some of my friends.

I posted this question on the "other" forum and got no responses which leaves me with the impression it may have been the Gas engine forum I originally saw it in.

Thanks.

Dan

Re: Somewhere on this site...

It was probably mine, I carry three on the truck with the tail gate closed and four with it open. For what ever reason it gets better milage pulling all of that stuff over the passes than every day driving. I have since replaced the tires with 255x85x16 which affectivly changes the 430's to about 410, I don't think I could go much lower it really looses power in the high altitude. My next one with out a doubt will be a PSD We had it in Michigan a couple of weeks ago (wasn't loaded) but it felt as though 373 would be the real ticket at that altitude. Any way the URL is http://www.rockymountainatv.org/pages/photos.htm

Re: Somewhere on this site...

Wow, that is impressive. How long are the ramps that you use to get them up there?

Re: Somewhere on this site...

I need to get some pictures while I am loading them, its really not that hard. I use a set of old water bed sides for ramps to get on the tail gate. Both front and rear are a set of 72" bi fold ramps. The rear one tilts down to the bed, it also has a set of extensions that fold up under the main ramp when not in use. The 2' extensions were needed because when tilted down the ramp had to much angle to get up it. With the extra two feet it comes back to the edge of the truck bed. I used a boat wench to raise and lower the back set of ramps, 4" garage door spools work really good to wind the and unwind the cable on.
Its a little hard to see but its mounted at the back of the cab http://www.rockymountainatv.org/imag.../F2503_jpg.htm
You can also see the cable used to raise and lower it running from the back of the cab to a raised post with small pully on it. The back of the ramp sets in a pocket and is pinned there while transporting. Once raised out of the pocket the ramp slides back to clear the pocket and is lowered. There is also a center brace that sets in a pocket, those ramps are not designed to hold that much weight when laid flat like that. The cable that runs from front to rear gives strength to the front portion when loaded. That center post is also pinned and lowers down when not loaded. The whole thing is designed to be 7' so I could get it in the garage in the winter. That doesn't work any more since I went to 33" tires this sommer. But since the whole thing is modular I can take it off in about two hours. I have also added a set of fold down stops on the front I figured driving one of those off onto the hood could just ruin your day. My next purchase will be a set of air bags. That weight on top makes it feel like a heavy camper although once your used to it its not all that bad. Before the 33" tires I could pull all of the passes at 65 (maybe not East Vail I haven't had it out there since I built this), now it drops down a gear and runs 55, its time for a chip or PSD.

350: Nice rig. I especially like the pictures of the Flat Tops above Glenwood Springs (note that there is only one "n" in Glenwood ). I grew up there

350R,

Thanks for the reply. That was the set of pics I was looking for.
