Squeaky captain's chairs?

The driver's captain chair in my 2001 CC Lariat will creak and groan (appears to be the right side of the seat only) everytime I get into the truck. It is a loud noise, not something minor. It seems to want to do this until something "settles" in the chair itself. It only began doing this at 9000 miles.

Anyone know what's up?

Dan

Re: Squeaky captain's chairs?

My driver seat cluncks when you shift weight in it....I fudged around with it for a week and then brought it in.....Dealer ordered a new seat bottom and told me he had a "few" 02's with the same problem......track tolerance shabby with slide.......

Re: Squeaky captain's chairs?

Mine has a squeek/moan, but its in the fold down armrest. Its really strange, it emits a sound that is inaudible to the dealers shop, but audible to everyone else that enters the truck.

Re: Squeaky captain's chairs?

Chainsaw6, I just brought my 02 F350 to York Ford in Saugus MA. for the same clunk with my drivers leather power seat and he told me it was the toerance in the track and that there was nothing to fix. He did not order a new track slider. What dealership did you go to and did the clunk go away.

Re: Squeaky captain's chairs?

Service person said they had a "few" of these and they ordered a new seat bottom...There was to much play in the seat and the new one has no play and no more oil can noises when you shift weight or when braking....Tell you dealer that a 300000+ truck should not have problems like this....My dealer is Newman ford in Salem NH.

Re: Squeaky captain's chairs?

I have had similar problems in the past, not captain's chairs, but very similar issues. Most likely, one of the mounting bolts has loosened.

Tighten it, it might work. It did one mine. It was a new truck and everyone thought it was the seat itself, until someone looked closer.
