Strait pipe?

I recently bought a 04 F250 with the 5.4L. i would like to change the exhaust and i was thinking strait pipe. my questions are... will i loose power? should i remove the cat? would a new y pipe be helpful?

My opinion of this is that it would be unbearably loud and would get old after awhile. I have a straight pipe on my 7.3 powerstroke, but the turbo does a lot to kill some of the noise and make it sound good. I have had a few gas cars that were straight pipe equipped and I have some tickets to prove it. My vote would be to get a diesel truck and go straight pipe, or get a solid aftermarket exhaust and go with that. Only my opinion.

Cheers!

I would love to have my 7.3 back but the family grew and the reg cab wouldnt cut it and diesel is still almost $4 a gal in my neck of the woods. i had a 98 dodge that i strait piped. thought it sounded good but did loose a little low end. listened to piped 5.4's on you tube but the dont tell me if the cat was left on or if it was the stock y pipe.
