Hello all. I want to order a Vortech supercharger kit for my 2001 F-250 v-10. My question to you guys is what else needs to be purchased to make it work. Do I need chip, exhaust, headers, MAF sensor, new injectors, or a new high flow fuel pump. Also what mods need to be done to the transmission to strengthen and firm up the shift. I live in Northern Caifornia so any phnoe numbers or shops would be a big help. Thanks you.
You don't have to do anything to make it work but almost anything you do besides the blower will make it work better and easyer.Exaust would definatly help if you got the $$$.
the object to making HP is to get as much fuel and air into the intake as possible. as a result more exhaust is made. so i'd say a bigger freer flowing exhaust would be mandatory or you'll be choking it and results will be minimal.

Vortec= High revving horsepower, available mid to high rpms
Whipple/Roots type=low to mid-range HP AND torque.
You decide which flavor you need in a truck. My personal opinion is, if you want a go-fast, Ford already makes a Vortec-type supercharged truck, the Lightning.

The Lightning has a roots style supercharger, that's the farthest thing from a Vortech style supercharger. Although the statement about the Vortech unit being a mid to high rpm performer is right on.
Why would you trying to sell the guy on a supercharger system that he cant even buy?
Look for a full write-up and towing test on the Vortech system in the upcoming issue of Sport Truck Magazine. As well as the performance results from competing the 4th annual "Sport Truck Shootout" in the issue right after that.

Thansk for responding. From what I read in the above post...a roots style supercharger is more what I need. I have 5.5 inches of lift with 35's and would like more low end power. Can anyone tell me more about roots style blowers on the V-10. Thanks again.
Keep in mind that the roots style chargers PEAK performance is at low rpm. If that's what you are looking that I definitely encourage that purchase but never let anyone convince you that a centrifugal has no low end performance increase. The installation of the system on my truck knocked 12 seconds off my 0-60 from stock while pulling a 6500lb boat/trailer.
If the opportunity ever presents itself that you are down this direction, feel free to look us up and stop by for a test drive. I am sure that you'll be more than impressed w/ the low end perfomance as well as the the top end pull of the centrifugal unit.
I guess the bottom line is: Don't take anybody's word for anything. Do the research yourself because there's not a single person on this board who owns or has driven a readily available "production style" Whipple supercharged V-10. Good luck and have fun.
