Hey Guys, just wondering if anyone has installed a supercharger on their V-10 yet. I know Paxton and Vortech had one in the making but was'nt sure if its a done deal yet. If so, was the power increase worth the cash. Any info would be great..
Kenne Bell has produced a nice looking one to the tune of $3500 bucks. I talked to a rep that installs them and he said for the money you will get more power than adding aftermarket bolt-ons. There was an article on the install to a EXCURSION V-10 in an off-road mag that I bought. I'll look for the issue if you want to read up on it.

Is the Kenny Belle the whipple designed blower? $3500 is a lot of cash but I plan on keeping the truck for a while. I think it would be worth it the performance gains are big. If you can find the magazine or the article, the information would be helpful. I called paxton and they want $4700.
Contact Ricky Best at Vortech Superchargers, he can answer your questions on their line of superchargers. His email is rbest@vortechsuperchargers.com
As for Kenne Bell, they make a nice product. However, their technical support sucks really really bad. The Kenne Bell would offer the most low end grunt for sure, but the fact that their tech support sucks would prevent me from buying one.

A friend of mine used to work at Watson Engineering. They designed a kit in OEM fashion to place a Vortech supercharger on the SD V-10. My buddy said it was supposed to be a production option. Since the light duty pickups had a supercharger option (The Lightning), they wanted the SD p/u's to have that option too (besides the turbo diesel).
He has a picture of him driving a white 4x4 ext cab doing a burnout. In the parking lot you can see about a 30 foot patch of rubber behind the truck. He is waving to the camera with billows of smoke coming off of the rear tires.
Call Vortech and see what they say. I know that supercharging Ford's Modular motors makes them animals. Most cars respond well to superchargers, but these new mod motors REALLY wake up. Just look at the Lightning, 4700 lbs, 13.9@103 (that is what the factory rates them at).
Sorry it is so long, but you will not regret buying the supercharger.

OFF-ROAD Dec 2000 issue. Has a big "scared yellow" D***ge on the front. (Did I say that outloud? ) The Install was on an EXCURSION but the engine is the same. This is a twin screw style, article states " can be compared to a GM roots-type supercharger". Talks about the operation "This system is known as a positive displacement supercharger."

I called and got an installers number. Called him and talked for a bit. It is worth the cost is you want power.

O:K guys, Thanks for the info. I'll do a little more research and let you know what I decide on. Paxton and Vortech are located close to my house so I think I will drop in for a visit. Maybe they have a SD w/ a blower already installed.
This is the second time I have posted in the gas forum and have only read a couple of posts. It amazes me that Paxton, Vortech and the other centrafugals are popular here. Those products are for high rpm boost situations. Why on earth would anyone with a 7000 pound truck want high rpm horsepower only? What about low rpm torque? That is what I think is important when you are driving a SUPERDUTY. Why not have the best of both worlds? Substancial boost at low and high rpms. For power all across the tach get a Roots type supercharger. IE Kenne Bell or Whipple. I do not like Kenne Bell much their tech support sucks. I am pretty sure Whipple industries does or will have a kit. Go with a Whipple with an intercooler and run 93 octane fuel with octane booster. That way you can run even more boost than the factory kit will set for.
