This is my first posting since getting my 2001 V10 4X CC two weeks ago. I have been following the bulleting board for the past 3 months since first ordering my truck.
I would like feedback from those who have installed superchargers. I have seen dyno numbers, would like some SOTB impressions?
I know Vortex offers a supercharger, does anyone know where someone from Fredericksburg VA (midway between DC and Richmond) could go to have a Vortex installed? What would be the installation cost (approx)?
Feedback welcomed!
Thanks.
P.S. I have two vehicles in my garage - one large (my truck) and one very fast (2000 Corvette Coupe). The vette doesn't have 10 cylinders, but its eight do make for one heck of a quick ride
Thats one answer I really can't get out of anyone. I want some quarter mile times adn some race results like yeah I beat a mustang or something. Well good luck. Maybe N2Boost will answer.

Thank you for the welcome. I now have close to 800 miles on my truck and am averaging about 11.8 mpg. Hope it gets better, but if not, no big deal - didn't buy it for the mpg!
Its a great truck - plenty of room for the family plus a full 6' bed. I put a Pace Edwards roll-top cover on it and that too has worked out nicely.
I have no signs of V10 flutter, I take it that has plagued (sp?) several of us. I wonder why it is so difficult in getting SOTP feedback on superchargers - is it that nobody has installed them...? I would spend the money if I knew it made a noticable difference in acceleration...hopefully someone will reply.
I saw a install story in OFF-ROAD magazine about a KENNE BELL super being put into an EXCURSION with the V-10. Seems like the super made for quite an easy install and set-up was simple. It uses premium gas. As far as dyno numbers the article didn't state exact gains althought they printed up a chart that shows the graph. I called KENNE BELL Inc. on pricing and was quoted $3500 plus install. I called an installer regarding this super and he had nothing but good things to say. Seems he was a gearhead that runs MUSTANGS with this same brand super. I asked about gains in HP and Torque. This super is all about torque. For the cost compared to all the bolt-ons on the market you will spend more in bolt-ons than just adding this super. He did add that a less restrictive exhaust will olny help this set-up. He charges about $600 for an install with the same price as quoted by the KENNE BELL Inc.
My two cents and with that kinda money going to your truck ask someone who does the work before you spend it. Best of luck to ya'.
I test drove a used 99 with a Paxton (Novi 2000). As soon as it made 2-3pounds of boost the motor would cough and lay down flat.I don't know if it was a bad install or a problem with the paxton electronics, to boost fuel. It had some O2 interceptor I have not seen this type before.
The dealer said " yea, I think the chip is bad" OK, what ever. If your not going to fix it, I ain't going to buy it!! I was not going to buy it anyway, just wanted to test the blower
Thanks HeavyAssualt and Kevin 350 for the input. I am still undecided as to what to do w/ the super. Will wait until I can do more research. We are expecting 4-8" of the white stuff here tonight - most people are hoping it doesn't accumulate, but I kind of hope it does so that I can try out my 4X4! I would think with the tires (modest width)and weight combination, the truck should go pretty well in several inches of snow...? Any experience you want to share on our trucks ability to handle the white stuff?
Thanks and have a safe and Happy New Year (remember to use a Designated Driver)
