WHO MAKES THE SD LIFTKITS? HOW BIG CAN YOU GO? IF I WANTED TO RUN 38" TIRES WHAT LIFT WOULD I NEED? WITH ALL THE TORQUE OF A V10, DO I STILL NEED TO CHANGE GEARS? IM SERIOUSLY LOOKING INTO BUYING A FORD SD BUT I WANT TO KNOW WHAT I AM GETTING INTO FIRST.
There are several lift companies out there. My self I like Fabtech, Sky Jacker and Superlift. For 38" you'll need 8" of lift. Try to buy a truck with 4:30 gears stock, you'll like it. If you get a 3:73 truck, then I would switch to a 4:56 gear set.( I belive that's as low as you can go, but its been awhile since I checked.) The V-10 is great though, I love it with my 36" tires. Hope this helps,
Justin

4.56 gears with 38" tires will put you close to the ratio of a stock setup (3.73 and 31" tires). i would not recommend doing gears at a higher ratio with the v10.
as for the lowest you can go on a 2002, it would be 5.38 and that is way too low for 38" tires. the 2001 and earlier superduties have the dana 50 front and i do not believe they make a lower gear than 4.56 for that axel.
also, national will make as tall a spring pack as you want..... i know of someone here that has a 25" spring pack.

Nice Truck! Noted on Ebay the other day that an individual had a 350 PSD with a "Western Diesel Package". Wondered what that included and what benefits it provided to HP, Performance, Gas milage etc.
There are several companies that make lift kits for the SD.. Fabtech, Pro Comp, Tuff Country, Skyjacker, National Spring (which are custom made to the axle weight)(thats what I'm running). I've got 4" lift front/rear running 35's. no rubbing
With any larger tire than 35" or 315's the 16.5" rim is the norm. There are 16" tires out there that are bigger but they are alot of $$$$. Plus they only make a 16" rim up to 10" wide and for those big tires that is ok but a little to narrow.
