testdrive

I went to my local dealer this evening and test drove a new 2002 F250 Lariat Crew cab 4x4 v10. It started snowing pretty heavy and we ended up with about 3 inches in a half hour. I did not get much time behind the seat, because I was a little uncomfortable driving a new vehicle that was not mine in blizzard like conditions.

Anyway, I was very impressed and am going back tommorow to take a closer look and see what kind of deal I can get.

I hope to be driving the new superduty tommorow night. I really like the quiet compared to the diesel, I have never owned one, but I do not like all the noise. The V10 seems to be the truck for me.

Re: testdrive

bat... do yourself a favor and do a search in the "ordering information" forum regarding the x-plan..... you might be very happy when you learn how to buy your truck at 1.5% UNDER invoice

good luck with the new truck..... i love mine

Re: testdrive

It is too late to get your x-plan pin number any time in the next 12 months from the EAA unless you joined the EAA before Dec. 1st.

Maybe there is another easy and cheap way to get an x-plan pin number right away. But nobody on here has said anything if there is.

Re: testdrive

If you can wait a few months, order one and get EXACTLY everything you want. Talk to the fleet sales manager of any dealership. Superduties can usually be ordered for $300 to $500 over invoice. Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: testdrive

Bat,

You'll love the V-10. It's got a ton of power, it
doesn't smell bad, and you won't wake up the neighbors when you leave for work in the morning. It's amazingly quiet when you are cruising down the highway.

I seem to recall that you said in another post that you drove mainly short trips and were thinking about buying a pretty large trailer for occasional pulling.

If your truck won't see much empty highway time, you might want to consider the 4.30 rear end. It will set you back a little on gas mileage on the highway, but you'll have a little more low-end grunt for that trailer. I've also noticed a trend that many of the 4.30 guys are getting BETTER city mileage than those of us with the 3.73s.
