Well, the limited slip is doing all it can; both rear wheels spin. Trouble is that they spin too much. (Shoulda got the 4x4, I know)I find myself spinning on top of stuff my old F-150 with an open diff would have pulled on through. I guess the heavier truck is just that much harder to push. Anyway, I am considering upgrading from the Firestone 265 R4S's to Goodrich T/A's. How much trade in value would you expect the stock tires to have with 5500 miles on them? Thanks.

Just as an FYI, I got $80/per on my 1000 mile old Firestone Steeltex 265/75 AT's. I would not expect you could get any more that $40/tire, but that's just a guess.

Did you trade in prior to August 29, 2000 when they announced the Steeltex was under investigation? I've got 14,000 miles on the AT version and the white letters are falling apart. I going to see if a Firestone dealer will prorate them toward a set of Bridgestone Dueler AT's 285's. From what I've read they are good tires. Anybody have any feedback on the Bridgestones versus the BFG's.
Guess not, I just read you're other post on your new truck.
Don't expect much. The best offer I got on mine was $65 a tire from the Firestone Tire dealer, but that was only if I bought my replacement set from him and with only 3,000 miles on them. I didn't want any more Firestones. Discount Tire won't give anything for them because they're Firestones. I was told their not going to sell Firestones any more so all they do is cut them and throw them away.
I'd say your best bet is to find somebody that wants them and sell them to an individual.

I got $90 a tire from the dealer when they were new and swapped them for Michelins...the best move I ever made. You should look at the LTX E rated 10 ply before you buy anything else.

Went to Firestone Store(company owned). They offered me at $250 customer satisfaction discount toward a set of Bridgestone Dueler A/T's 285's. They wanted 139.99 per tire plus mounting, balancing, etc. out the door would be $395 after all said and done. My feelings are to knock the 10% extra off tires that Firestone is offering on Dueler's until 4/15 and waive the mounting and balancing. Should be out the door for about $265 with tax. He also says many of his fleet customers swear by Steeltex and get to 80,000 miles out of set.
