Transmission woes

OK, 2002 F250 w 5.4 and auto tranny. This truck is an electrical nightmare!! I finally fixed the headlights with a new fuse block (had previous post about headlights not turning off at all). Now and right before I changed the fuse block, the shift lever on the column will not shift out of park. When I pulled the fuse to check it, the shifter started working. So if the fuse is pulled, the shifter works fine. When the fuse is put back in, the shifter locks up. I changed the brake position switch with no results. The only other suspect peice is a plug that goes into the back of the fuse block. It got hot and melted a little when the headlight fiasco started. Also after checking wires, I noticed the wire going to the ac blower motor was extremely hot to the touch, but only when the fan is on high. I was suspect to the motor going out, since the fan never seemed to "blow" hard. I changed the motor out and still have the same wire getting hot. Could there be something in the fan selector switch that is causing all of this? Any suggestions on the shifter?
