v 10 exhuast note

I think I have heard my first piped v 10.I dont really know how to explain it other than I like it.First it was a good looking f 350 4x4 crew cab dually. The sound wasn't like your traditional big block v 8 hot rod sound,it was more like a formula one race car.Is that sound easy to get, like change muffler,or do you have to replace headers and all.

Re: v 10 exhuast note

A muffler change is all you need. Of course headers are a BIG plus.

Re: v 10 exhuast note

Had a V10 but traded it. Want a good sound go past the cat. conv, cut off stock pipes and put 3 inch straight dual pipes (no mufflers) back out to the rear behind the tires." It will turn some heads" BUT look for gas mileage to drop about 1 mile to the gallon. Mine also would stall when the clutch was pushed in while going DOWN HILL ONLY. That was a strange one that my dealer could only think of decreased back pressure. It gave no comp codes or anything.

Good luck, Phil

Re: v 10 exhuast note

im getting ready to do something with the exhaust system. i was thinking of doing the same, taking out the muffler and running duals. warfield, are you saying that you "lost" about 1 mpg. i would of thought that it would give you a gain of mpg's. with no muffler and dual pipes, how is the noise inside the truck

Re: v 10 exhuast note

I removed my muffler, well I paid $45 to have a straight pipe installed. I feel it was worth it.MPGs went up,engine revs up faster, and when I get on it it is LOUD..But as for cruzzing can't hear a thing. In cab noise is low.
At idle it rumbles ( NICE ) As I get on it it sounds like an indy car but deeper. It does NOT sound like a V-8
Check my pics I have one of it.
I would recomend it as it only cost $45 bucks and if you dont like it then put a HiPerformance muffler on it for a couple more bucks.
My muffler shop works with me and all the things I like to try.
Iam trying out the NO muffler for a mounth or two then I might try a Hiperformance muffler?????? still dont know????
We all are still learning about the V-10 and what works best
I know Iam doing my part,I chased down 3 Super Dutys with loud mufflers to find out what they were using, but didn't like what I herd.
