The other day while driving down the freeway traffic slowly came to a stop. As I slowly stopped with traffic, the X simply shut down for no apparent reason. It started right back up with no problems. We took it to the dealer who said there is a "Special Service Message" regarding sulfur contamination of the fuel card of the sending unit (their quote). They recommend using Chevron's Techron for a couple tanks of gas to correct the problem. Can anybody shed some light?

The person you spoke to at the dealer I see doesn't pay too much attention to SSM's and TSB's as to what they are for. SSM 19098 regards the sulphur buildup on the sending unit, and that will only cause erratic fuel gauge readings, the engine will not stall with that problem, no need to waste any time & money on fuel additives that will not cure the problem.
Have the dealer reference TSB 06-25-8, it has us reprogram the PCM and replace either the throttle body or TPS after monitoring certain PID's. This TSB covers loss of RPM on deceleration and should take care of your problem.

Buddy_M, THANKS for the information. It goes back to the dealer when they get a part in for something else. I will bring that to their attention. Thanks again
