I would first like to thank the folks here at Ford-Diesel.com. Us V-10 owners are very happy to co-exist with the PSD owners. Maybe eventually there will be a V-10 forum.
Anyway, several of you have e-mailed me wanting some feedback on the V-10 and how I like my truck.
She has 1600 miles now and the honeymoon continues.
The best fuel economy that I have had at 70 to 75 mph is 13.5 mpg. At 55 to 60 mph I have had 15 mpg!!
With the cruise on at 72 the truck never shifted into a lower gear for any of the hills--We have some pretty good hills to climb in Southern Missouri.
I have found that the engine noise is real close to the PSD when you first take off, but the V-10 quiets down more quickly. Of course there is no Turbo lag.
Over the weekend the truck developed a squek/rattle in the front end. I can't figure if it is the brakes, suspension, or what. It is not a consistent noise, but it is loud. It almost sounds like a loose wheel cap (I checked that).
If you have any questions about the V-10 please keep e-mailing or respond to this post.
If your on the fence between the PSD and the V-10 take a look at both before you make the call. I'm glad I did.

Nice report. I to am glad they let us gaser's co-exist with the PSD folks. I love my V-10 and can't justify a PSD.
You'r MPG is not as good as mine, but I've not run the truck as hard as you. What rear gear do you have? I've got 6,000 miles and three trips on mine. Two of my trips have been to SEMO and one to AL.
As far as I'm concerned you V-10 guys are more than welcome here. After all we're all Super Duty guys. One bit of advice though; don't start any flaming wars like what happened in the other thread that got moved to the other forum. I am always intereseted in what you fellows have to say.

My reason to buy a PSD over a gas engine is quite important..
I have to know that when my wife sends me to the grocery store, that I have enough torque to tow the bananas home..
Really, I bought the motor for the smell and sound..Always wanted one..
The V-10 is a fine motor and would have more than served my needs, but it's the diesel "it" thing that attracts me..
What's the "it" thing?
"It's" changing the oil, especially the part when the filter slips & falls into the pail with a splash that gets oil everywhere, EVERYTIME..I just can't seem to correct that mistake, so "it's" tradition now..
"It's" the cold weather start...
"It's" the irritating noise and it's all of the Chevy and Dodge guys dirty looks of envy..
My rig kicks their A**, and we both know it..
OK, i'm sick.
My wife does not understand "it", and I think a lot of gas guys don't either.
So, a gasser is just fine, and you have my respect, as long as "it's" not mine..

The forums here are the best on the net about Ford trucks. I know diesels are supposed to be the main focus, but there is so much great information presented about Ford trucks in general that it's no wonder some of us "gassers" have found our way here!
Anyway, I decided on the V10 for my new "SUV from hell" and accidently touched some nerves in the PSD Excursion forum. I decided it would be best not to pour any more gas on those flames.
Glad to be here! Unlike most other places, this site seems to have a huge percentange of sensible people. Much appreciated, and y'all keep up the fine work! After all, these gas and oil burners have a heck of a lot more in common that differences. Folks that are having tranny, body, brake rotor, etc. problems and the like have a lot to gain from sharing this info in a "safe" environment, regardless of their combustion orientation.

Glad to see a report by a v-10 owner! In the last month or so I was begining to wish I had taken a good look at the V-10. After reading some gas mileage reports I may go drive one. I love my PSD but there has sure been a lot little things go wrong with them. Makes me wonder was is in store down the road. Keep us posted on those V-10's!!!!

I know two people who have V10s. Both said they wished they had bought PSDs. The gas mileage they get is horrible at around 10mpg average of hwy and in town. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. At least my engine warrenty lasts for 100,000 miles.

Our PSD warranty might last for 100,000 miles, but do you realize that every time you need warranty work on your engine, past 36,000 miles there is a deductible? The warranty states:
"7.3L Power Stroke Diesel Engine Coverage
The New Vehicle Limited Warranty covers certain direct injection diesel engine components against defects in factory-supplied materials or workmanship for five years after the warranty start date or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
After the end of the Bumper to Bumper Coverage period (three years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first), you must pay a $100 deductible for each repair visit."
fiend: Just goes to show you that PSD owners are smart, sensible, knowledgable, trustworthy, and probably all good-looking too! That's why this site is so great.
Mike g: Don't understand your comment about George C and bananas. I got my PSD to carry my fly rod! Just wish I bought the F350 instead for the F250 (hee hee).
