V-10 Vortech Supercharger

Called Vortech the other day and they said they would be offering an aftercooled version of the v-10 supercharger. Also, with stock injectors and MAF, their seeing 420 hp at the rear wheels. I'll just tell the wife its a REALLY Expensive alternator.

Re: V-10 Vortech Supercharger

There was a small article (sub-article if you will) in the latest issue of Fourwheeler magazine that talked about the HI/LO supercharger being offered soon. Sounds pretty interesting. If you get one, let us know how it performs.

Re: V-10 Vortech Supercharger

In the Aug Four Wheeler is a Tech article on the Vortech supercharger for the 5.4L V8. A small sub article addresses the V10 and talks in the future tense...considering the lead times for articles I would assume that the supercharger for the V10 is available. The article talks about dyno figures of 215Hp and 290Lbs torque as the stock form baseline. They say the Standard supercharger will produce 315HP and 369Lbs torque. They also say if you are greedy for POWER thay have an H/O system that gets 363HP and 390Lbs
I can't rember where I read it but some time ago while reserching this new truck I saw something about the crank not behaving well with a lot of side load on the front crank pully. I think I saw a picture of a special bearing carrier that went over the front of the crank pully/s to support this extra load. The point I am trying to make is that the Vorteck supercharger is driven via belt off the crank pully. It may be that what I remember was on a max power engine. Of course if you think that several thousand $$$ for 100+ hp is the way to go then you probably don't care that it only eats 92 octane

Re: V-10 Vortech Supercharger

I hear what your saying Fredvon4. I just read the FourWheeler article and it seems a stock V-10 puts out 200 or so HP at the rears, so there would be about a 150-170 hp increase. With 4.30 gears woohaaah!
Good point on the 92 octane, 87 octane would take a very light foot. I wonder if a timing retard system (based on rpm) is available or can be hacked into the system. The fact the the heads are aluminum reduces(but does not cure) the detonation problem.

Re: V-10 Vortech Supercharger

SummerSalt
I do quite a bit of my own V twin engine mods and such. I really would think that at over $4000 and change that the use/expense of High Test fuel is not a concern.... The Vortech system is probably one of the better ways to get serious power to the ground. Unfortunatly I'm not sure if the rest of the drive train will stand up to the extra grunt. Don't get me wrong I am aware that the same power train stands up ok to the PSD and heavy loads. But I suspect that if I had and extra 200HP I would be tempted to LIGHT EM UP and there in lies the delema....To get that much power to the ground reliabily now means that I must spend more $$$$ and time.
When I jumped the Harley 80 cubic incher to 95 HP I quickly trashed the clutch. Replaced the clutch assy with drag type, and blew the trans, replaced the trans with Jims and Andrews guts and broke the belt, changed to chain drive and Now have a $25,000 600Lb 10 second rocket ship, ah yes I think a little nitrous is in order...Now if I started chasing more POWER in the V10 I am sure I would end up breaking the bank...on the other hand I'm already spending the kids inheretance so what the hell, where is that parts catalog

Fredvon4,
Your Harley is absolute proof of the "Domino Theory"
Or is that "Deal out the Dough" theory....
or is that......
