V10 Power Chip

I am asking for a friend who has a new Motor-home with a Ford V10. He wants to add a Chip to improve power and mileage.

Can anyone tell me their actual experience with various chips and which one worked the best for you.

Post here or e-mail me at bjwinton@cox.net.

Thanks,

Later

Re: V10 Power Chip

One of the most popular and well trusted companies is Superchips. They've been making performance chips almost since the beginning of computer controlled engines. They have some of the latest advances in the industry with their micro controllers.

These plug into the data port of the truck instead of having to fix a chip onto the pcm. For the gassers, they have many different variable that can be programmed, such as shift points, shift firmness, tire size correction, etc, as well as the engine performance gains.

I am in no way affiliated with Superchips, nor do I currently own one of their products. I do know of there reputation particularly in the Mustang and F150 ranks. I don't think your friend would go wrong with one of their products.

Re: V10 Power Chip

Improve power maybe.. add mileage nope. These are performance chips. You are also stuck with using premium fuel. Lots of $$ with a motorhome. I think a Banks kit would be better. Lots of $$ also.

Re: V10 Power Chip

I had the superchips programmer and it didn't work too hot for me. I couldn't get the thing to stop pinging. Most of the problem is the crappy gas in california. It didn't seem to give any more power, if it did, it would take a dyno to figure it out. I had to run 91 all the time in a truck that gets 10 mpg...it just didn't make sense to leave it on.

The trans settings really fix up the sloppy shifts...pretty cool. Being able to read your DTC's is really cool too. It would have been cool if it adjusted for tire size, but it didn't work on mine. All in all, mine is sitting in the back seat so I can read a code if I ever get stuck somewhere.
