Ok, I am looking into getting a 2000 F-350 crew cab dually 4x4 with 120K and the V10 for $11K...
Since I have never owned a V10 nor have I ever known anyone that has one, how would you guys say the V10's are as far as reliability, problems, longetivity, price for repairs etc.
Any input would be appreciated..
Also, is 11K too much to pay for V10 with 120K miles???
I am sorry, I just dont know much about these engines

IMHO , the V10 is a great engine (although I AM biased... ) I'm at 110K and it seems to run better than ever. There is no reason, given proper maintenance, that it won't hit 250k without any work. Early V10s, like the 5.4s, might blow a spark plug from the head. It has happened to a minute percentage of 5.4/6.8 owners. There is a timesert kit made specifically for 5.4/6.8 plug replacement after blowout. Some people will tell you that it's a full head replacement, but according to others, that's BS . The other issue that seems to be the biggest issue (and it's still a very small issue) is the IAC valve failing. Similar to, but not as bad as a 7.3 PSD CPS failure, and easy to fix. Other than that, there isn't anything else that comes to mind.
As far as price, check NADA and Kelly for ballpark pricing, and then based on that and the condition of the truck, it's your call.
Just traded a 2002 V10 for a 2008 V10. I think the 2002 is basically the same engine as in the 2000. My 2002 just had 42K on it but I never had it back to the dealer after driving off the lot. I never had to add a drop of fluid to any component during that time. I believe I added a pint of oil between one oil change early on. I changed oil every 3000 and air and fuel filters on a regular basis. This V10 is an awesome tower as far as I'm concerned and the reason I ordered it again in the 2008.
I agree with the other two posts. Just check the plugs every so often to make sure they are tight, and if the IAC valve ever goes bad it won't let you sit, it just won't idle. Never heard of any other problems with the V10's. I'm on my 2nd one. Had a 02' and now a 06'
