What exhaust are you running?

Hello all,
I am wanting to change out the exhaust on my truck. I want something that has a nice deep dark rumble to it but not enough to make it noisy in the cab.
I was thinking of a Dynomax Ultraflow.
Also, what do you think of alumanized pipe? Will it hold up, or should I stick with stainless?
I don't wnat to spend a fortune!
Thanks!

Re: What exhaust are you running?

I don't know about the noise of the Dynomax, but you should be OK with aluminized pipe. Three years & the Expedition's exhaust still looks good.

Re: What exhaust are you running?

Tray, I've had 2 alumanized cat-back exhaust systems on my previous trucks.1990 F-250 with a 351 (3yrs until I sold it), and 1995 460(5 1/2 years until sold it )No problems at all. Save your $ these systems work. I went with a Gibson exhaust on both, and very happy with them. I hope this helps.

Re: What exhaust are you running?

2 chamber flowmaster 3in. in center & out center with a turndown right out of the muffler. You can actually hear the engine now, plus it has a good tone to it.

Re: What exhaust are you running?

Tray,

I have the Banks PowerPack and the muffler is a straight shot 3.5" pile with a few holes to allow some sound to enter the backing. But you can actualy shoot a shot gun through it and never hit the muffler.

Take off the stock muffler and listen to the truck. Most of the sound is actualy canceled out in the cat, and the muffler dosn't do much.

check out my Banks PowerPack install page at: http://wawii.f150online.net/Banks/index.html and listen to the "wav" files.

Enjoy, http://wawii.f150online.net/

Re: What exhaust are you running?

I agree with wawii. The cat does cancel a lot of noise. I had my cat off for a week and boy was it loud.

Find someone else that has an aftermarket exhaust and listen before you buy. You might not get that deep ruuuummmmmmble you want with the V10. I had the exact same exhaust on my V8, and did it rumble, now on a V10 it sounds like a Viper but its still cool!

DJR 17,

Sorry, not sure what happened to the files but I can't get the files to up-upload. That's what I get for setting up a new WEB page.

Try : http://ic.net/~wawii/banks/

Re: What exhaust are you running?

Just added the MagnaFlow Muffler a few days ago and it sounds great. I listened to a few different kinds at the Shop and this one has a good sound at higher RPMs. It is a no restriction type so it is supposed to improve the performance a bit but not super noticable to me. For about $200 for the whole job I am happy with the sound and it should help the MPGs too.
