What Should I Look For

I am considering another truck ( yep, a gasser ), and would like to know what to look (out) for.

What are the "good" gasser engines, trim package, etc?

I am looking for a vehicle with 4X4 and an 8 foot bed with a receiver on it.

The years that I am looking for is 1998 to about 2003, and I would like to know what I could expect to pay in the Southern PA/Northern MD area.

My "other truck is an '85 F250 6.9L and it has frame rust/body rust and some "bad" memories with it (my ex got it for me when we were first married)

Thanks

Macy

Re: What Should I Look For

All gas engines today are good enough for just about anything.

Trim packages are what you can find in the used market, XL will probably cheaper than a Lariet. Surprizing, amazing the trim packages are the same with any engine.

The market will dictate what you pay, it'll differ from there to here.

Good Luck and Welcome, to the gas section I guess..

Re: What Should I Look For

If you're talking Super Duty's, stay away from the 1999's. That was the first year of production and there were some mid-year changes that will affect which parts you buy when it's time for replacement. They still a good truck; I had my early '99 for 6 years with zero problems, butthe motors are slightly weaker also. Stay away from the 5.4L, the V10 was a $600 option and fuel economy is almost the same.
