I searched for many hours on the internet and found v10's to be very scarce and impossible to find in the lariat SC 4X4. Does anyone know of a dealer who has several v10's in stock. or is it just best to order one?

Around here they are very rare on the lot. The dealers mostly stock 5.4s and PSDs for some reason.

I recently talked to a sales rep from a large inventory dealer and posed the same question. He said there is a lot higher demand for the 6.0 and therefore the inventory reflects the demand.

Take a look at any dealers order buying guide... Bobby Williams has one for down load at sunrise ford dot com
First the PSD cost more so there is a definite higher percent profit per unit of sale.
second, our society believes that automatics are easier (lazy folks) an the manual tranny trucks spend too much "lot" time. Dealers with computers know this to be true so they rarely order a truck with a standard tranny.
The V10 viper and the Ford SVT lightning inspire some race, rich kids but the average Joe would never deliberately buy a working vehicle TRUCK with a racing motor. For obvious reasons the general public sees a V10 powered SuperDuty as a specialty niche class hot rod truck that must get terrible fuel mileage. FoMoCo chooses to not dispel this myth because the PSD has such a higher percentage profit margin.
Again look at the first page of any 99 to present dealer order guide and you will see how the marketing Gurus do the math on dealer orders...it all become clear grasshopper...to get the truck you want, you must order, wait 6-8 weeks, and then enjoy!

My Salesman is the senior salesperson at his dealership and he orders all the "in stock" trucks for them. He won't order a dually, V10 or 4x2 because few want them. I'm an exception.
